Introduction:

A popular food service provider recognized the need to enhance its operations by improving its supply chain management processes. With a growing demand for its offerings, Culinary Delights embarked on developing an advanced supply chain management system to optimize inventory control, procurement, and distribution within its canteen facilities.

Problem Statement:

Before implementing the new supply chain management system, Culinary Delights faced several challenges:

  1. Inefficient inventory management resulting in overstocking or stockouts of ingredients
  2. Manual and error-prone procurement processes leading to delays in obtaining necessary supplies.
  3. Lack of real-time insights into stock levels and consumption patterns
  4. Difficulty in coordinating with suppliers and managing multiple vendors

Objectives:

  1. Inventory Optimization: The supply chain management system automated inventory tracking, providing real-time visibility into stock levels, usage trends, and expiration dates.
  2. Automated Procurement: Purchase orders were generated automatically, reducing manual effort and procurement delays.
  3. Vendor Collaboration: The system facilitated effective communication and collaboration with suppliers, allowing for streamlined order placement, delivery coordination, and invoice management.
  4. Demand Forecasting: By analyzing historical consumption data, the system provided accurate demand forecasts, aiding in informed procurement decisions and minimizing wastage.

Methodology:

Conduct canteen analysis, design a system for inventory and procurement, choose technology, integrate data with suppliers, develop system modules, perform rigorous testing, provide user training, deploy the solution, monitor performance, and continually refine to establish an optimized and efficient supply chain management solution for the canteen’s operations.
